stories of grace, hope and life beyond cancer

New year haircut

This week I had a new year haircut! It was the first time I have needed to have my hair cut in almost a year and it was awesome! It was just a trim of the back of my now curly (!!) hair but it was wonderful and such a lovely way to start the new year!

Getting my hair cut felt like a transition from a difficult chapter (a hairless one!) to one that is exciting and full of promise.

I don’t think I have ever before experienced such excitement at the start of a new year and such a sense of hope as I did when this year began. In preparing for the start of the year I have spent quite a bit of time over the past few weeks thinking about, and setting my goals for the year, and although they are modest, it has been such a positive thing for me to even be able to do this, as for much of last year I could only think in terms of days or possibly weeks but definitely not a whole year!

Over new year, my friend Sue posted the lyrics to the song “Come Away” by Jesus Culture on her Facebook status. Although I know the song well, it was so good to be reminded of the lyrics as, for me, they speak volumes about God’s heart for us.

Come away with Me, Come away with Me
It’s never too late, it’s not too late
It’s not too late for you

I have a plan for you
I have a plan for you
It’s gonna be wild
It’s gonna be great
It’s gonna be full of Me

Open up your heart and let Me in

I am excited for so much this year, and specifically for what God has for me and for my little family. I know that it is going to be good, wild and full of Him. I hope that you know that He has that for you too.

Here’s a little pic of my new hairdo! 🙂 Happy new year!
